Recorded on the Spring Equinox in 2014 at The Common Café in Toronto. This is an ode to the Disir, female ancestral spirits who we honour around the time of Yule. The night before Yule is sometimes called Mother's Night, so this is piece is morning of the feminine divine. When winter turns to spring we honour the mother's who helped us through the winter, and the spirits who will give a prosperous spring and summer.

It is important to note that there are very little records of heathen belief and this music and philosophy is one interpretation after reading much literature. The music and the spirituality it eschews is our construction using the images and feelings of gleaned from ancient myths and stories.

The text is a modern German translation of the Merseburg incantations.

Einst saßen Idise, setzten sich hierher und dorthin.
Einige hefteten Fesseln, einige reizten die Heere auf.
Einige klaubten herum an den Volkesfesseln
Entspringe den Haftbanden, entkomme den Feinden.

(Once sat the Disir, They sat here, then there.
Some fastened bonds, Some impeded an army,
Some unraveled fetters: Escape the bonds, flee the enemy!)
